I started Fourth Wing and am loving it although I am not keen on the female main character.

Finished In Memoriam last night and had dreams/nightmares about it. I thought it was incredibly readable without really being well written, if that makes sense. I sort of liked how dislikable the two main characters were. I saw from her acknowledgement that she's sold the film rights, so presumably that won't be long.

I started Pachinko this morning and am enjoying it so far. Something totally different was just what I needed.

Yes I read it a few years ago and enjoyed it. I think a tv series of it has been made for a streaming service?

Oh excellent! I can see it working on the screen although the sweeping timeframe must complicate things a bit.

I’m still plodding on with Butter. It’s about twice as long as it needs to be as there is so much tiny detail in it. It’s quite weird too. From the reviews I’m not sure it’s worth finishing but I don’t like to give up

Witchcraft for Wayward Girls - Grady Hendrix - I love his books, horror, but for me not too horrifying. They really capture the time the books are set in. It centres around a home for unwed teen mothers and the treatment of them at the time. Really sad in places.

I really want to read this, but need to be in the right place I think (my Mum said exactly the same thing - she had a hardback copy for some reason and could only read it sitting up in bed as it was too heavy otherwise!). I was listening to a podcast the other day with the person who adapted Wolf Hall and The Mirror and the Light for the screen (he did Conclave as well, which was why he was being interviewed) and he said that his dream project that he is working on is adapting A Place of Greater Safety.

I utterly loved A Place of Greater Safety.

I seem to have exhausted the kindle availability of Agatha Christie books in French, so I've gone back to English books.

I found a new (to me) Golden Age detective author; ER Punshon. Annoyingly, book 11 Comes A Stranger in the series is currently unavailable as people have reported errors in it, so I'm going to have to skip from my current read book 10 Dictator's Way to book 12 Suspects - Nine. It does matter as there's a story arc of the protagonist meeting his fiancée.
