A Thursday Beak

Post by wendy james »

To amuse me as I travel to London! Tell me about your evening

Dinner will be popcorn and pineapple. I will not be watching anything though may start my next book club book.

I won’t see my MIL as she’s out at the theatre, but she’s left me a jacket on the bed that’s mine if it fits apparently!

I waved at a supermarket van that went across the front of my bus at a roundabout, because it looked like the driver waved in the direction of the bus. I checked on Find My Phone and it could have been P and when I messaged to ask, he confirmed it was and he’d gone that way on purpose. But neither of us actually saw the other, just waved at vehicles on the offchance. :mog:

Evening, Wendy, what's taking you to London?

I am just home after a massage, it was lovely. I also booked next Monday off work so I'm feeling quite chipper about that. I have salmon in the oven, and will have that with potatoes and veg, and I'll probably watch the Scotland game.

I too am on a train. I will be on a train forever. I live on trains now.

(I was summoned to the London office today for no sensible reason. Due to the parlous state of our rail system, it took me three hours to get up there, and will be three and a half hours on the way back once J's picked me up from Littlehampton as I gave up on any trains to where I actually live. I am very, very pissed off.)

I’m going to a careers fair tomorrow at the school I made contact with last year and went to see in January. It was safer to stay over the day before as it’s only me and one of our grads going so I didn’t want to abandon him if there were train problems.

I’m hoping to meet the two Y10s we’re hosting for work experience in a couple of weeks (as well as pin the head down on something else we’re trying to get in the diary while I’m there in person!).

A massage sounds lovely. I haven’t had one for AGES.

Train faults and drivers in the wrong places - it's been going on since my first attempted (cancelled) train at 6.57 this morning.

And I'm going up to London again tomorrow morning! (I do have a day off and it's for fun but GAH.)

May the travel gods be more in your favour.

It's snowing heavily here and yesterday, everyone was out in shorts.

Work is mad, we've had three people quit in the last two weeks. I intend to have a glass of wine in my hand within two minutes of signing off.

A mate of mine has been trying to get back to here from Brighton today and it sounds as though it has been beyond horrendous.

I absolutely do not miss one second of those days. Not one.

Hi gang!

A major theme of my conversations today have been about MILs and clothing. My colleague was saying her MIL bought the very cardigan she was wearing in front of her on NYE and she was steaming about it, 3 months on (I don’t blame her). I imagine your MIL is younger and more glamorous. And won’t be wearing at the same time as you.

Oh Derek that's awful.

That is cute about the waving, Wendy.

I am waiting for P to decide what he wants for our Thursday takeaway. Then I should really do some work at in a bit snowed under at the moment but I'm just feeling a bit CBA about it.

I’m really sorry Del!

There was traffic chaos so bad where I live that it made the Radio 2 travel updates but luckily I decided to go to Fosse Park after work & return some stuff to M&S so I missed the bad bits.

The waving is so sweet!

I am really tired after a long day/week so I am lounging in front of the telly - the BBC adaptation of Towards Zero which is OK so far but not a patch on the book. I made nasi goreng for dinner which was lovely (worth doing the rice in advance).

We had a snap test at uni which has shown me I need to do some extra revision to get to where I'd like to be, but not tonight.

Train delays sound like a nightmare.

Evening. In a not at all surprising turn of events my evening has been grassroots football heavy. On the plus side Monday’s all hell breaking loose has been resolved surprisingly amicably.

I am glad Del is home now. I want to like train travel but our system doesn’t make it easy.

Our football all kicked off at the weekend too. Chunk was dropped a while back and I quietly exited the group after seething for a bit. C stayed a member to find out how it was going and surprise surprise, it’s imploded a bit. C sent a very measured message saying you did it to my kid, and you’re all awful people, goodbye. I was very impressed and have never found him more attractive.

The coach sent C a message apologising for what happened. Too late, but you know.

Anyway, my advice to anyone is: don’t involve your kids in team sports if you value mental health.

It sounds like your personal chauffeur helped make up for the train trauma

We don't know what's going on. I'm a bit concerned we may lose the account and I don't know if we'd be moved to another account or not.
While we wait to see what's happening, R and I have decided to postpone the basement remodel for now. If the UK trip wasn't already paid for, I'd cancel that too considering R's a teacher and Trump is trying to dismantle the Department of Education. We should be fine though, I'm just v cautious.

That book looks good, Wendy!
