Re: IWLTS
Lord, that would trigger A Note. I need to print them out because I got sick of writing them, mainly asking people not to park so much on the pavement that Twiggy can't get past let alone anyone in a wheelchair.

Re: IWLTS
Group dynamics are 'interesting', Wendy
IWLTS, in a similar vein - 'just hang fire until I can think about this, and stop making suggestions that are Never Going To Happen, you entitled pillocks'
One of the groups I'm in is a social thing, with lots of members (many/most of whom have joined as it's free and on FB, so they can watch from the outside - lurkers, basically). Otherwise, it's great though, with a lot of things for people to do, and ways to meet like-minded people. It's supposed to be for Hometown, but has expanded, and there are now lots of complaints that it is Hometown-centric (well yes, set your own up if you want one near you), and the usual moans that always happen when there are people who think they are missing out.
Anyway, the regular members have a range of budgets and lifestyles, so the woman who set it up asked if anyone could suggest or offer things to do socially that didn't involve buying food and drink, as not everyone can afford to do that regularly. That made sense to me, so I posted to say If anyone fancied a free Creative Writing session, I would be happy to run one, and that the post was just to assess interest. I was thinking maybe 6-10 people and we could use my dining room, or a pub at a quiet time. I've had about 40 replies, which is far more than is feasible for a group, so I posted to say I need to think about what might work. Two women who are basically lurkers will not let it go - they keep bumping the post to tell me how they are looking forward to hearing my solutions, and offering 'help'. One said I could get the numbers down by offering a range of classes based on different genres (eg poetry, mystery stories, journalism, romantic fiction etc). Errr, no - if she wants that she can pay for a degree - I offered one class, which will work with a small group - I'm not spending my summer planning classes in all sorts of things to run free of charge - specially with people like them in them
. We're away a lot for a start, and I don't want any sort of regular commitments. Another knows someone who knows someone who might have a room in a town several miles away, and do I want her to make enquiries. Again, no - I don't drive, have limited mobility and am not faffing about getting from A to B in order to run a free class for a bunch of strangers.
I'm not sure what I'll do in the end, but I wish the pair of them would STFU and give me some headspace.

IWLTS: Why next week? You've managed to hold out for the last 2 years. I'm really struggling to see how 'we'll be no trouble' is an answer to being told that now is not a great time for a state visit.
I swear my in-laws have FOMO on being the thing that tips me over the edge.
(Bambs has her final hand-in next week, I'm fighting ridiculous deadlines for project handover, and J has a truly shit week ahead. There's no food in, the laundry is overflowing, the house has gone full goblin-mode. Genuinely just getting through so no I'd rather not feel judged while listening to banalities about some random member of St. Catherine's flower committee.)

Agree about the Gaza content - I care, I do, but reading endless things about the atrocities is feeling a LOT.
IWLTS - why is taking so long to process the application?
(this is not anything interesting, I'm just tired of getting 'your call is very important to us' type emails with no action ever being taken).

To the person on our team who purposefully ducked out of a meeting so she didn't have to provide an update: 'You need to step it up and stop shying away from things you don't feel comfortable doing'
To the other person who is creating work on a project I'm trying to drag over the line ' RAAAAHHHHHHHHHHRRRRRGGGGHHHHH'

This is just one week after P finally had to destroy her cash safe as she'd changed the code and not written it down and she gave up after weeks of failed attempts. Part of the deal re having phones is they write down the passwords in case we want to nosey (we don't - it's very dull - but could if we wanted), so why she doesn't just do it immediately is beyond me.

You’ve just given me the nudge to change my network password (and write it down safely).
