I came home with seven brand new books from yesterday’s event. Monsterland sounded so good that I’m going to park my current book & start that.

I just finished Piglet, has anyone else here read it? I enjoyed some of her writing but I disliked the main character and wanted to cringe myself inside out at various points. The food descriptions didn't half make me hungry though.

I also just finished the audio book of Say Nothing by Patrick Radden Keefe, which was very good but quite grim too. I also had the fear that I'd disconnect my ear buds by accident and play it aloud, with
the narrator who had a very strong NI accent, bellowing something about Gerry Adams or punishment beatings while I was in the gym or the supermarket

I've just got this from the library!

I'm on The Journals of Derek Jarman. I'm not sure why, but they are most enjoyable. Before that it was A Train in Winter about French women in Auschwitz (Caroline Motorhead) and The Great Passion about Bach (James Runcie).

The Priory was excellent. I need to reread Mist Over Pendle for book club now.

I've been meaning to read this for a while but I might not bother now, you've put me off

I finished James the other day. It was really well written and such a good concept but it was hard reading at various points.

I'm now reading a Ruth Jones book that I downloaded a few weeks ago. It's quite predictable but it's easy to read, and I was in the mood for something light.

Sorry for putting you off! I can't decide how I feel about it, but I'm still thinking about it.

I read The Foreign Girls, the second in an Argentinian detective series - really enjoy the Argentinian flavour of it all but the plot was so weak. Disappointing.

I'm listening to Romantic Comedy by Curtis Sittenfeld on Spotify while I'm doing my cross stitch, which is a perfectly nice way to pass the time. I think we can all see how it's going to end, though...

I'm about to start Munichs by David Peace. I feel it might be an emotional experience. I'm never sure what I think about David Peace and the way he writes. The Damned United was outstanding but Reds was unreadable.

Ooh, do let us know how it goes, Turtle - if you approve of it, I think I'll get it for my dad for Father's Day.

He's such an odd writer. When it works it's poetry when it doesn't, it's a mess.

I read Amazing Grace Adams & it was quite a stressful read  It’d be perfect for an ITV drama series as the tension doesn’t stop from start to finish

I’m now back the classics that I’ve never read so I’m on Catcher in the Rye. It’s not what I expected but then, I don’t really know what I expected really. Anyway, it’s really good of course.

I finished Amazing Grace Adams, I really liked it and thought it was a good concept.

I have the newest Christopher Brookmyre to read next.

I finished the 4th Jackson Brodie book, onto the 5th now! I'm going to miss all the characters when I've read the 6th and currently last one in the series.

Am reading Games and Rituals by Katharine Heiny, a collection of 11 short stories, and they're just great. I don't want each one to end!

Oh I loved that too, she's so good.

I'm glad people didn't hate Grace Adams.

Excellent new nickname. :mog:

I'm loving it so far - more than Standard Deviation, which didn't ring true to me in terms of the male view point.
