Re: Strange & Unusual Houses
That's hilarious!
I present this house. It's not horrible, just...random. Random lamppost at the end of the garden (?). Random beams on the ceiling of the bathroom in a modern house. Random pillar and random dog photo in the loft room. And then there's a couple of spot the difference photos too, where they show the same room, but now there's something missing....

Photo 10 of this one also makes me laugh. "No, no, there's no downside at all to using a wide angle lens to make your loo
look bigger, it won't make anything look oddly giant-sized..."

I'd forgive that first one almost anything for the location - are you looking for a holiday home on the south coast Liv?

Not really - just day dreaming after spending hours on video calls this week admiring the beach views behind a colleague who lives on the coast

Re: Strange & Unusual Houses
That first house is in such an enviable position, Liv, I would put up with almost any interior! Though the brick pillar randomly placed in the middle of the room would need *something* done to it if I lived there. It’s a shame they haven’t made more of the inside.
It’s like a normal midlife crisis only with more chandeliers and foreign languages.

Is it a chimney stack? Coming through the converted loft. I can't work it out. So stupid not to remove it, who doesn't want a spacious room with a beautiful sea view...completely obscured by brickwork?!

Re: Strange & Unusual Houses
If it has to be there for structural reasons (I can’t tell from the photos) surely they should skim it and paint it white. If not, get rid of it rather than put it front & centre in the photo.

Re: Strange & Unusual Houses
We have a couple of cosmetic beams but I think the builders got away with it.

This is a house What Smal Made. I am sure you're all dazzled by the exciting architecture, palatial rooms and fine finish
In actual fact I designed it for the woman who owned the adjoining house, got planning permission, then she sold her house with the PP and a builder bought it and I wasn't involved any further. It's almost literally round the corner from where I live though so I pass it often. Don't blame me for the boring appearance or the weird wedge shaped garden, you have to do that shit to get PP.

That is lovely, Smal! It must be so satisfying to see your work completed.

As houses go, It's pretty boring really!
It is satisfying, yes. This one was a bit of a battle too.

Is someone living in that house or was it just done up to sell?

Re: Strange & Unusual Houses
The kitchen straight onto the deck with bifolds is fabulous. The ramp option to the front door is a nice touch too.
Dressing it to sell with bulky furniture pointing at a non-existant telly is a bit odd though!

This is what I am planning although I'm undecided about bifolds vs sliding doors.

Re: Strange & Unusual Houses
This is totally bonkers and I utterly love it- with the caveat that: a) I wouldn't want to live there and b) someone's done a terrible job upholstering those chairs with that crappy Ikea fabric

Wow. That is very, erm, individual 30 years to do though?
maybe that would fly in London, but Lydney is tiny!I just thought it might go to a mad collector of my work who might want to buy it, but no one was interested."

And perhaps if she was Tracey Emin, but how many collectors does she have?
