I gave my brother my baby grand piano because my husband wanted a desk in the same corner. And fair enough, we don't play, and my nephews are taking lessons. This is my replacement piano.

That’s very funky, five!
The girls have claimed one drawer for their hair bits and bobs, emma, and I’ve moved stationery from the craft room to another drawer. I need to have a look at what has been dumped in the spare room/my office that can be moved to the general area.
We’ve now finally ordered a TV stand and some small tables. That’s it for furniture. Well, once it’s all arrived.

The new console table! Which fits! I chose the one that no one liked when I posted them in the end. I like it. Although now I really need a mirror above it. And some bits on it.

It’s just the right size. And the gold looks lovely with the pink wallpaper.
I need some help with chairs for my desk. Please hold!

Re: Ideal Homes- Show Us Your New Purchases!
The desk arrived yesterday and I love it. It’s just big enough without dominating the small room it’s in. I need to sort a chair as we have none in the house at all - only benches for our kitchen table. Annoyingly I have the exact chair in the Heal’s photo (mine are white) but they are in a shipping container in a warehouse somewhere on the South Coast and I can’t retrieve anything from it for the foreseeable.
Do you think this yellow chair would work? I have found an ex-showroom one I can pick up today. I might go full on 2013 and get a grey Anglepoise desk lamp to go with it

I think you need a proper desk chair for a desk. I have an Eames upholstered one; it’s really comfortable. Obviously the legs are less elegant because of the wheels.

I like that yellow one very much. It would look great with the table I think.
I’m having a similar dilemma about chairs for a study too. The kids have a built in desk in their area upstairs and I’m not sure what to get. That red chair, but in aqua was one of my choices.

I love the yellow chair, will you get to try before you buy? The reason I ask is that we had some chairs with gaps in the back like that, and they were so uncomfortable. It looks like the vertical bits are close enough together on yours not to be a problem.

I agree with Ella if somebody is going to be working at it for lengthy periods.

I will definitely try before I buy it.
I know what you mean Ella, but I really don’t like office chairs and neither of us will be working from home long term. It would also be useful to have an extra chair we can put at the end of the kitchen table for when we have people over too. S’s mum really struggled sitting on the bench as she needs back support.

That looks really nice in situ, Smal. Much better than on the website.
The chair looks nice but I don't think I'd want to sit in it for more than about half an hour or so. I'd put comfort above style for a desk chair, even if it's not going to be used that much.

If your back's against the wall, turn around and write on it.

I like the yellow chair, Emma but I’m a fan of proper office chairs for desks too. Something adjustable too if G might use it for homework.

I hope they’re as nice as they look online Skips! P dismissed the one we got initially but after we’d measured up and really thought about what we wanted (holes v gap, drawers v cupboards, etc) and looked at various ones, we came back to that one. We’re already planning our first game of Blockbusters. ;)
I’d never heard of Swoon until I googled but now I’m seeinr adverts all over the place.

Well, when you decorate with Tin Tin posters, you have to go funky.
I love your TV stand!

I wasn’t sure if this thread or one in Hatchlings would be better for this purchase, but I’ve bought these (in A3 size) for S’s bedroom. They’re utterly perfect for her!
