That pan cookie sounds great!
We are here when we were in Bath: http://corkagebath.com/chapel-row/
The food and wine were but really good and the staff were lovely. We somehow only spent £40 per head, despite stuffing ourselves and drinking a fair bit.

I would also either go for the Koftas, or the Scallops.
I always go Eton Mess whenever it's on a dessert menu because I love it so much.

I fancy the lavender creme brulee. I will ask on the pie because it does appeal.

Scallops!
I took myself out for a fancy lunch and had jumbo scallops on Monday. With a side of Cajun cheese grits.

Oh, and I forgot to say - I went to an Argentinian steak restaurant in Hove the other weekend and it was one of the best steaks I've had in a looooong time. Fantastic house wine (a Malbec I think) and sides too, and good value. The only downside is that it's incredibly noisy - maybe one for a quieter weeknight.

If I were eating with Pip I'd have scallops, and then salmon or duck.
If your back's against the wall, turn around and write on it.

It's a corn meal based porridge type dish. They are commonly a breakfast food but shrimp and grits is a popular southern dish and cheese grits is often a side option for a main meal.

Is that a bit like an American version of polenta?

Re: Where have you eaten out lately?
The cutting pie was pork & Stilton, but they had sold out. I had 8oz ribeye steak with chips and Stilton sauce from the steak night menu, them the creme brûlée. My friends both had the cookie pan and it was immense. Neither of them could finish it. The steak and Stilton sauce was fantastic. I asked for the recipe, but the staff were rubbish and forgot to come back to me.

I would have had the chateaubriand if I’d had someone willing to share with me.
Was the creme brûlée good? It sounded nice.

Not as lavendery as I'd hoped, sadly.

Re: Where have you eaten out lately?
Hello yes, me again. I took one of my favourite clients to Quilon in Victoria last night, and it was lovely - really interesting flavours (and not all kill-you-with-spices), lovely service (they were fine with us taking our time in the bar for nearly an hour after we were meant to sit down at the table, and no tip policy which I've never come across before). We were also asked if we were planning to share our starters, which we were, and then when they came out we had half of each starter presented to us on our own individual plate - very neatly done - which I thought was a thoughtful touch.
We had the scallops and the ginger chicken to start, and the lobster, prawn masala and two types of aubergine for main, and it was all lovely. The only thing we weren't mad keen on was the chocolates they served with the tea (chocolate discs, WAY over-flavoured with rose and cardamom respectively). Other than that though, big thumbs up.

Re: Where have you eaten out lately?
Ooh. That sounds lovely. I'll have all the fish please.
I went to Hawksmoor last night, which was exactly as it says on the tin (I had Salcombe crab on toast, and a 400g rib eye with various shared sides). The cocktails are brilliant. I really really wanted the full fat old fashioned (buttered bourbon, really) but I was saving that till after the meal, at which point it became inadvisable for me to have another. :))
And I am going to Nathan Outlaw's restaurant tonight.
