Re: Recommendations for other channels - ye olde TV
I watched the first three (and agree that it's excellent) but then wanted to binge the rest so now that it's all out that's my rainy Saturday sorted.
I am very sad I've finished Mrs America, so enjoyable (if enraging).

I didn't know it was going to rain on Saturday so now I'm sad I've already finished it.

If 4OD still have No Offence online, that would be my top pick for a rainy Saturday sofa afternoon (if you haven't seen it, obviously!).

Hurray! Strong Northern women kicking arse, what's not to love? (NB It does jump the shark eventually, but doesn't everything?)

AND it's still there, and it actually looks perfect for household viewing, which is the best thing as I have a backlog of stuff to watch alone.

She is. I loved how everyone is an absolute arsehole at some point or other, no boringly perfect characters, and how that makes you question your response to the things they do when you already like them.

The BBC 2 documentary series on Murdoch is very good.

Yes, I’m enjoying it. Very Succession-y.

It's totally Succession! It's depressing though, it makes me wonder why we bother voting when old Rupe basically decides which govt we'll get, depending on how useful they will be to him.

When I watched it last night, I remembered how hopeful I felt that the phone hacking scandal would change things, yet here we are 8 years or so later, and things are even worse

Staged, with Michael Sheen and David Tennant, is really funny. On iPlayer.

Harper’s Island on iplayer.
It’s not amazing and does have some plot holes but it’s a ‘horror’ murder mystery with quite a bit of gore and quite a few plot twists.

I remember that, I watched it when it first came out! It had the chap from Popular and Jake 2.0 in, whose name I can never remember.
It started great but kinda jumped the shark for me midway.

Here too. I think if I’d been watching it weekly I’d have given up but binging it in 2 nights helped and it did tidy up the loose ends so I forgave its lumpy middle.H1ppychick wrote: ↑Sat Jul 25, 2020 1:57 am It started great but kinda jumped the shark for me midway.

Almost Australian with Miriam Margoyles is a good watch, lots of nice scenery but also some interesting commentary about Australia and of course, she is hilarious The first episode was on BBC2 last night, and will be on iplayer (I don't know if it's all on there yet).

I love Miriam. She was on Louis Theroux's podcast and she was hilarious. I loved her American travel doc too.

I don't know if this count as ye olde TV, as its Sky Documentaries but the Hillary Clinton Documentary is very good. Its in 4 parts and each episode is split between early years and the 2016 election. Its depressing though, to think how different it might have been had she won.
