Re: Time For A Change
Bloody hell, that sounds like overkill unless you're going for a fairly senior position?

Yes, it's for a finance administrator and events coordinator role (that bit is more PA in my opinion.
The interview is next Tuesday, so I've time to prepare.

Absolutely this; it's one of my pet hates. Either summarise the key points in your slide or, better, have annotated graphics and explain them. Good luck!Hazey_Jane wrote: ↑Tue Mar 23, 2021 7:31 pm The best advice i can give us don’t read every word on the page, people will get bored.

Re: Time For A Change
The first time I had to give a presentation for an interview, the best advice I was given was to consider why they were asking for it in that way, as in what might be important in seeing you present. In my case it was definitely presenting style over content, and in fact I kind of flubbed the subject matter but they were looking for personality, communication and organisational skills and my focus on those were definitely how I got the job.
Clearly the content here is much more important, and it may be that this is just their way of making you give a more in depth answer on this important aspect of the job, but is there a side to the role that involves presenting or delivering to people that can help you shape the style you deliver in?
The role I went for included delivering to large groups of (bored) people, so although there were only 2 interviewers I tried to think about that and stood up for the presentation, asked open questions to engage them blah blah. Again, not specific advice for this role, just an example of how it might differ based on what the job description is.

Another interview done. It's for a part of the same larger company that Heebie works for so she gave me some excellent pointers yesterday for things to talk about. I think it went well but who knows?!

Another interview booked in for next Tuesday. Not great money or location but doable. It's for a luxury stone (the surface type, not jewellery) company. And they complimented me on my CV which is always good.

Nice CV.

I just got a 5% pay raise. I did NOT see that coming, and presume J didn't mention it in case she couldn't get it signed off.wendy james wrote: ↑Wed Mar 10, 2021 12:49 pm No salary change, but that's fine as the JD I signed says home based (rather than Swindon).![]()

Re: Time For A Change
That’s excellent news, Wendy!
Good luck Shoe and Skips
I finish up my current role next Weds, and am having a break before I start my new one. Popped over to dump some stuff in my new office yesterday and have a much better idea of what I’m going to be doing, so that’s good (it had been a bit loose up until then!)

Re: Time For A Change
J has said he's going to help me prepare over the weekend for the presentation, I think I have an idea of what I'm going to do.
I've applied for a few roles that have subsequently sent me application forms to complete so I will do those over the weekend also.

Re: Time For A Change
I've had the events company interview, I think I did OK with my presentation. I won't hear till next week but I really like the sound of it.
I have another interview on Thursday for a legal assistant role, they want someone available at short notice, but I'd rather the other job. Better not put all my eggs in one basket though as much as I'm tempted to.
