I did some stalking yesterday for undisclosed reasons, and found this house, which I love. https://www.rightmove.co.uk/properties/88469512#/

That is gorgeous, Pip!
It’s like a normal midlife crisis only with more chandeliers and foreign languages.

I want to know who you were stalking now! That's quite near my favourite chippie.
If your back's against the wall, turn around and write on it.

It’s very close to my brother’s house, in fact from the first glance at the picture I thought it was my brother’s house! But the interior is very different.

Here's some excellent decorating choices to assault your senses. Out of all of the rooms, actually, it's the bathroom that really made me recoil, just for the "room of two halves" vibe :))

Its like they've really tried but got every single choice wrong. The dining chairs are my fave WTF?!

They look like torture devices!
Here is another one. They really liked a green accent! And I would have been interested to see the living room before the house was cleared, it gives the impression it would have been a bit of a time capsule.

That border is particularly upsetting.

Oh that border  remember when they were a thing?! We had a swirly acanthus leaf border at the top of the wall in one room. For years my mum used to regularly point out how many people had stripey bottom wallpaper, border, some sort of dotted top paper.

Wow  I wonder what horrors there used to be in the hallway before the full whitewash happened, as there is no way the current residents lived with fully plain walls like that.Livilla wrote: ↑Sun Mar 28, 2021 4:09 pm Here's some excellent decorating choices to assault your senses. There’s an otherwise lovely restaurant in Glasgow called Café Gandolfi that has loads of chairs like those dining chairs and I hate them. It’s mostly at the tables for 2, so I only like to go if I’m in a big group and have a chance at avoiding being stuck with one.

Some of them must have been such trendsetters originally! I sometimes wonder/guess at what things I’ve chosen that will be the tired sad thing that Hop bonds with her friends over in her adulthood

Re: Strange & Unusual Houses
I love reminiscing about interior fads of yore. I remember really vividly when my interest in interiors was sparked via a home accessories supplement in a Woman magazine in the mid nineties
, it was full of decorative coloured bottles and sun and moon motifs
I was captivated and then thoroughly adopted both.
