Three months after mentioning it, I saw Minari! I didn't really care for it, to be honest. Promising Young Woman tonight, I'm hoping it'll be more up my street.

Oooh I want to see that. The trailer came on yesterday.
My ticket yesterday was 6 euros. Bargain!

I've got a cinema card which works out as 6 euros a go too, it's very satisfying!

I don't think you ever get 12s these days, just 12A? Could be wrong! But we had zero problem getting Theo in because of the 'A' bitwendy james wrote: ↑Wed Jul 14, 2021 10:51 pm Gosh, but that sounds fun! We didn’t go the cinema as I thought it was a 12 and we’d have no chance of sneaking Elvis in.

I don’t go to the cinema often enough to know. I’d googled before it came out and found something saying 12 not 12A and hadn’t looked again. Ah well, we got to see it pretty quickly which wouldn’t have happened if we’d had to plan a cinema trip.

Another fan of Black Widow here too, which we streamed today with J who is already on holidays. Florence Pugh was definitely great (I’d been reading for ages how good she is but haven’t seen her in a leading role). I hope it’s true that Kevin Feige wants to make her the new Black Widow.

Liv, Florence Pugh is basically the lead in Fighting With My Family which is probably on Netflix. It’s definitely worthy of a watch.

And she was the best thing in Little Women. She's great.

I love Fighting with My Family and didn't twig it was her! We went last night to see Black Widow and I really enjoyed it. It's a shame it was delayed.

Me too, Skips! I loved it and it was so nice to be in a cinema again. Very few people there, although it's been out for a week now - how busy were your cinemas if you saw it earlier in the release?

I loved Florence Pugh in Black Widow, she and David Hayes were the best bit.
The rest of the movie was just OK though, I didn’t love it. It was more action sequence than plot, and I always find action sequences pretty boring to watch.

Whereas I’m there mainly for the action sequences
I think I first saw Florence Pugh in the little drummer girl which I really enjoyed, and she was excellent in it. Well worth tracking down.

I just got back from taking George to see In the Heights. We saw it at Backyard cinema which we'd never been to and it had a Miami Beach theme so we were sat with bare feet in the sand. It was so good! The choreography is amazing and NY looks so beautiful. I had a really good cathartic cry
It was fully booked but in seats of 2 (those comfy beanbag things) and they were really spaced out. It's just tented so kind of indoor/outdoor and everyone was wearing facemasks when moving around.

We just went to see Black Widow which we both enjoyed. Florence Pugh was great. There was only us and another couple in the whole cinema.

We watched Barb & Star Go To Vista Del Mar tonight - I had never heard of it, but Mr L chose it on the basis it might be entertaining. And indeed it is - it’s delightfully, insanely absurdist in the most ridiculous way, mixed with some moments that are so well observed (at one moment Mr L turned to me and said “Your Mum would say that” - and he is dead right ). Kirsten Wiig is great in it, as is her co-lead, but Jamie Dornan stole the movie for me, he is hilarious.

We watched that on Saturday as we were in the mood for a silly film. I doubt it's a film I'd ever rewatch but it was funny!

Re: Film 2021
I was supposed to be go and see A Quiet Place 2 tonight but got the time wrong and showed up too late. Annoying.
So this evening at home I went for something completely different on Netflix and watched Florence Foster Jenkins which I really enjoyed. I thought it was very sympathetic and affectionate, and in particular liked the relationship between Florence and the pianist- Simon Helberg was fantastic.

Oh no, Panda! My kids are desperate to go to the cinema this week and I’ve said we can see Jungle Cruise only because it looked better than Space Jam 2
