I think you can come out of isolation after day 10 even if you're still testing positive. That's what the test and trace email said for Liv anyway.

Re: Testing times - Covid in 2022
Surely I'd just be out and about infecting people though, if I'm infectious enough for it to still be positive? Oof, what a palava. I've avoided giving it to T so far but if he just comes back to sleeping in our room on Day 10 then I might lose my mind if he goes and gets it then, like all this time apart would have been for nothing.

It does seem crazy. A lot of the guidance does.

You just crack on after ten days of isolation. A tested positive right up to Day 11 and I’m seeing a lot of reports of people testing positive all the way through to the end. It’s especially hard when you’ve got the carrot of early release dangled in front of you

Re: Testing times - Covid in 2022
So we’ve had our first ever positive test here - J said he felt headachey this morning, so I tested him and he is positive. The rest of us are all negative. So he’s confined to his room, and googling tells me he no longer needs a PCR, and he just stays in isolation for the next 5 days? Given it’s half term next week anyway he’s not currently too bothered :))

Yes, report the test and isolate at home. Fill out extensive details on T&T. LFT on day 5 and 6. If both negative then he’s freeeeeeeee. If not, wait for two negative tests 24 hrs apart or Day 10 (today is Day 0). The rest of you LFT every day for seven days.

Re: Testing times - Covid in 2022
Headache was Liv’s only symptom here too. No need for a PCR. The rest of the family take LFTs every day for 7 days. J can take LFT tests to see if he can get an early release from day 5.
How old is J? Liv is on day 5 today (test day for potential freedom tomorrow) and we couldn’t isolate her (she’s 7).

She's doing dance routines to Olivia Roderigo songs so totally fine.
Just to clarify that have have isolated her in that she's not left the house but we haven't confined her to her room.

We didn’t banish D either. He wasn’t allowed to sit on the sofa with us though. :))

We never banished Theo either and the non Covid people in my house were the ones who steered clear - T has slept in his office all week and F is easy because he’s constantly in his room anyway. Him and T have been having their evening meal together and played PlayStation in the kitchen whilst I’ve been on my own or with Theo.
11th day since symptoms so freedom day for me today. I’m incredibly guilty that I never felt properly poorly. I’ve had mild colds that have felt worse than that, thank the lord for vaccines!

That’s me had two negative tests now so I officially have my freedom - still feeling really achey and exhausted but the days long migraine seems to have buggered off which is good.

Re: Testing times - Covid in 2022
He’s 11, so it on’t be too much of an issue for him semi-isolate in his room and other bits of the house (the boys have a playroom with its own tv and PlayStation which is helpfully removed from the rest of the living area, so once he’s feeling better he’ll probably just shuttle between there and his bedroom. He won’t be too upset :)) ).
And thanks all for the advice on treats and timings etc, that’s really useful.:))

Re: Testing times - Covid in 2022
Ah yes it should be easier with then. George would definitely be able to semi-isolate in his room and extend up to the guest floor for extra space and separate bathroom.
Liv felt very sorry for herself on days 0 and 1 so I spent a lot of time reassuring her and snuggling on the sofa. I fully expect to test positive any day soon. No early release for Liv though as she still has a faint line today.
When you report the positive test on the gov.uk website they do email all the dates for tests and coming out of isolation.

It's all over at the end of the month anyway.
De Pfeffel just said so.

Fucking ludicrous
Do not walk behind me, for I may not lead. Do not walk ahead of me, for I may not follow. Do not walk beside me either, just fuck off and leave me alone.

Re: Testing times - Covid in 2022
The numbers will probably plummet now, because a lot of people will see that in a few days they won’t have to isolate, so they will stop bothering to test now. It sends a strong message that there is no point in testing or reporting or isolating.
