It really is all very weird! Did make me wonder if we maybe missed a Covid infection in Neil because we did several nose tests with him and only when the rest of us had Covid did he get a tonsil swab. Perhaps he was already over it by then?

If he had several nose swabs and a clear tonsil swab he probably didn't have it. You couldn't have done any more anyway Dutchie.
Liv is finally clear on day 7 so assuming she's negative again tomorrow she's out of isolation for half term. The rest of us have done our 7 days of LFTS and have remained negative so :fc:

Everything crossed for you!
I'm sorry, Dutchie. That sounds rough.

That's good news Emma! Here's hoping it all stays that way!
Thanks for the reassurance on Neil's tests. I guess I'm just trying to clarify how he could remain unscathed while the rest of us got full-blown Covid but never stopped cuddling and kissing Neil.

T and F have both still managed to avoid it. T is actively social and has done all sorts of high risk things like a skiing holiday with friends etc and F is a teenager at school so constantly in contact with Covid. And we’ve had it in this house twice now. I wonder what it is that stops some people getting it.

This bears out what we’ve been saying about not just swabbing the nostrils even if that’s what the test says to do.

Re: Testing times - Covid in 2022
Somehow I am still negative. So into the office I went yesterday. I also feel fine now so i’ll have to suppose my symptoms were possibly something else. Flatmate was using the same type of tests as me (often from the same box!) and showing positive so I’d like to believe that if I had the infection that it would have been detected.
It’s been an emotional rollercoaster regardless. Flatmate is finally testing negative at least!

Glad you're feeling well again Epp! Hopefully that's still the case today. You could have just had a bit of a cold - we tend to forget that those still exist!
We are all feeling much better today. Looks like a few good nights' sleep and good food has done the trick.

Glad you’re all feeling better Dutchie! L has started getting a scratchy throat - he never gets ill so I’m eyeballing him suspiciously, but he’s still testing negative.

My friend’s dad caught covid when he went into hospital overnight after a fall about ten days ago. He was readmitted this Monday just gone with breathing difficulties and that’s when Covid was diagnosed. She’s just messaged to say he’s now palliative care only and not expected to last much longer. I’m heartbroken for her.

It seems so surreal when people are talking about it all being over and there being no need to isolate or even test any more. My poor friend… how do you get your head around such conflicting circumstances?

My son tested positive this evening. Luckily we were both away this weekend and I saw him for 5 mins last night and 2 minutes this evening. The line came up straightaway so there is no doubt. He is now confined to his bedroom and only allowed downstairs with a mask on. This is his second positive but I have managed to avoid it so far.

That's horrific, Edith, your poor friend.
A is complaining of a sore tummy and a sore neck. I'll test her tomorrow, but we're meant to be flying to Ireland on Friday. I will cry if she has it and we can't.

Your poor friend, Enid. That's awful.
Fingers crossed, Zoomer.
We've been visiting friends and family and it was eye-opening how little mind is paid to any kind of precaution. I'm fully expecting one of us to have picked up something. We've managed to avoid it so far, but Bambs doesn't have school, we haven't been super-social and are all careful in work.
Travelling was a bit of shock to the system. I felt like a pariah for wearing a mask in some places, including being shouted at by one chap. Bambs tells me that's normal when she wears her mask in work.
Fingers crossed, Zoomer.
