Re: Animals strike curious poses
Tiggy's issues with the vet all started when he was microchipped. The needle is quite big and the vet hurt him. For ever after, he's fought tooth and nail to thwart any attempts at examination or injection. It's quite possible that the vet hurt Taffy with their first attempt at the microchip and she's not about to let that happen again. Also, because she's small and, therefore, presumably quite fragile, they're probably afraid of making the whole experience worse by hurting her again, trying to control her.

That may be it then. I'm going to make them let me hold her next time.

That works quite well for us with Tiggy. If I can give him a cuddle the vet is [sometimes] able to quickly sneek an injection while pretending to stroke the scruff of his neck. Because he wriggled, Tiggy's microchip wasn't done quite right and has migrated around the front of his shoulder. It's a right old faff trying to get the reader to it when he's in the car.

I think Storm's has done that actually as I can just feel it under his skin. Or I used to be able to, think he has too much fur now. I hope this vet is not rubbish at it. Anyway I will insist on holding her next time. Thanks for that info.

Mr Sax forgot to feed the cats while I was out last night but Indi didn’t tell him because she’d polished of the remaining stir fry that I’d left (forgotten) in the wok. Chicken, peppers and baby corn in a hoisin based sauce.
Judging by the paw prints, she’d stood in the wok too!

She’s absolutely fine! And made it very clear that she wanted her actual dinner when I got home at 11.

Only after I popped her on the naughty step for two thirds of a minute* to think about what she had done.

Poor little Indi! If anyone should be on the naughty step then it's Mr Sax.

This cushion was on the coffee table for no more than two minutes while I sorted the sofa. Bella owns it now.

Are you going to have her neutered? It’s easier to chip when they’re under anaesthetic. Failing that they can prescribe a gabapentin to take before the appt to zone her out a bit. But really, most vets shouldn’t be struggling this badlyTurtle Bean wrote: ↑Wed Apr 20, 2022 12:19 am That may be it then. I'm going to make them let me hold her next time.

She's been neutered. Luna. They were meant to do it while she was under, I don't know why they didn't.
Anyway it has to be sorted as she got out tonight and spent a joyful 20 minutes rushing from garden to garden up and down the street with both me and Zirk in hot pursuit, myself clad in pyjamas and no bra. We didn't even catch her, she went home herself when she had had enough. So that was exhausting.
