Re: Secondary Considerations
Ours get positive points (which are separate to this) and they’re opening a shop that the children can ‘spend’ their points.
Every fortnight 100% attendees are entered into a prize draw for a £50 Just Eat voucher, children/staff can vote for kindness points as extras and they get Amazon vouchers weekly, they also do stars of the week, homework heroes and a few others! Prizes there range from stationery to chocolate. The bribery is off the charts but it seems to work.

Re: Secondary Considerations
If they already have all that the leaflet thing seems even more pointless (no pun intended).

Re: Secondary Considerations
It was Cube’s parents evening today and I’ve got to admit I’m really proud.
Every teacher said that he was kind, empathetic, conscientious, eager to learn, takes part, does the extra tasks, works to the best of his ability and is exceeding expectations. They used phrases like “a joy to teach”, they’d have a classroom full of him, “like to keep him for the next 3 years” “role model to the other students”.
I mean, he’s a mouthy, opinionated teenager at home but I’m really chuffed with how he came across tonight.

Re: Secondary Considerations
Having a teenager now makes me laugh at times.
Cube was at laser tag today with school. He forgot his key and I wasn’t going to be home until 4ish so he said he’d go to a mates.
I text him to say I’m on my way home. Doing a quick dinner then going to the beach.
He asked if I’d bought him shorts today (I confirmed I had)
He walked in…
“Hi mum, love you, are they my shorts? Mint. Laser tag was sound. My mates in the garden. Can I grab a £2.50 for some chips instead of tea? Actually, what about £10 and I can have a maccys? I’ll give you some change. Sound. Right, I’m getting ice lollies for me and my mate out the freezer. Dunno where we’re going. Just having a wander. See you about 9? If you buy icecream at the beach lemme know and I’ll come over. Sound. Bye.”
He said all of this while changing into his new shorts and left his trousers in the middle of the floor when he left :ella:
I must’ve said hello, yes, yes, ok, love you, bye” and that’s it, he was gone.

Re: Secondary Considerations
I have just spent £280 on school uniform, shoes and stationery. I feel a bit sick!
ETA: and there's a £25 charge for a locker so that's now over £300. Gulp.

It's horrific. Which reminds me, I need to buy N another blazer - lanky sod.

I got off lightly, we don’t have blazers. We do have a tie though, with a polo shirt

That's a bit steep!
I'm mostly not looking forward to the hairdresser bill for R's back to school do. She has big plans.

Re: Secondary Considerations
Blazers are not as expensive as I expected. I’m sure they cost more when I was at school.

Re: Secondary Considerations
We get off lightly there, jumpers are plain so can come from anywhere. Shirts on the other hand have the badge.

Re: Secondary Considerations
At the moment we have to have logo everything, but apparently there is new legislation coming in that will bring the cost down. I do think the matching uniforms look better though.

Re: Secondary Considerations
G has got a phone and the horrible boys from his class are sending him nasty messages. He has sent a screenshot of one of them to me, I asked him the context ie was it banter and was he saying similar things to them and he’s said no. I’m going to ask to see the whole message chain, but if it is as he says - which is basically boys sending him unprovoked nasty messages, how would you handle it? I’ve got the boys numbers and their mums and I’m fairly friendly with one of them. I was thinking of sending a group WhatsApp to both parents and both children asking them directly to stop sending him messages like this: with screenshot.

Re: Secondary Considerations
I’ve seen more of the messages and I’m shaking. It’s really vile. Telling him to commit suicide and threatening violence. I’m sending the messages to the school and have also asked G if he will agree to me messaging the child and parent. The other boy was egging him on but didn’t say the horrible things directly.
I’m sending everything to the head of year at their new school. Not a great start for any of them.

Re: Secondary Considerations
Oh squiz. How horrible for you both. Contacting the school is definitely the right way to go.
I'd probably message/ visit the parent if you know them but wouldn't deal with the children.
