No, it was way too dark. The lights basically pretty much went out at a given time. (The server was saying it was a total nightmare and they kept *saying* it was a bad idea :)).) 3 tiny champagne coupes, all with different garnishes. Very cute.
The training thing surprised me, but I guess that’s what soft launches are for? It was good fun, but a total shambles.

I've never heard of a soft launch before. What a bargain!
My friend took me here last week. https://lumiererestaurant.co.uk/ It was pretty fabulous.

We have "soft launches" at work (not a restaurant). Marketing folk love it as a term IME.

Re: Where have you eaten out lately?
I met a friend for a walk around the harbourside today and we had delicious hot chocolate at Ruby Hue (v hot choc wankerish but really good), then ate at the street market on Old Temple Street. I expect there's a turnover each day/week/month but I had Macaroni cheese and my friend had a Bento box both of which were great. There's only outside seating there so we got a bit cold and walked to the Old Vic and had a drink in their new (not very new) atrium bit which was lovely and peaceful and the kind of place you could easily settle down with a book or laptop on your own if you had time to fill.

You're making me homesick for Bristol.

That macaroni cheese looks like heaven itself! I really want that. I don't think I've been to the market on Old Temple Street yet.Froozy wrote: ↑Fri Feb 10, 2023 7:49 pm I met a friend for a walk around the harbourside today and we had delicious hot chocolate at Ruby Hue (v hot choc wankerish but really good), then ate at the street market on Old Temple Street. I know what you mean about the Old Vic. We had a drink there before seeing the longest play in the world and it's a nice space amidst the busy staggy henny King Street.

Re: Where have you eaten out lately?
We went out last night to see a comedian, and had to have a quick early dinner beforehand in the city. It was very nice, but we really noticed how prices have gone up. It's been ages (can't actually remember the last time) since we've done a cheap and cheerful quick dinner out, so perhaps my reference points are even older than I think, but I felt like it was about 50% more expensive. Not to complain - the only meals out I've done recently have been very special and not in the same price or experience bracket at all, but it does mean we have to look at an evening out as a much more significant expenditure for sure.

I’m taking notes because I’ve got a weekend booked in Bristol next month.

Mr P got a bonus day off yesterday as his CTO was really pleased with where they were at with delivery of his project, so we went to The Begging Bowl in Peckham for lunch. Slightly late to the party as it's been open for around 10 years now, but we'd not been before and it was really good.

Ooh! What meals do you need to eat and any particular tastes/atmosphere? Where are you staying?
Seven Lucky Gods is one of my favourite places, although it looks like they aren't doing the arancini at the moment which shouldn't be allowed.
Not so central Koocha does excellent vegan food and in the same kind of area I had a very nice meal at Nadu earlier in the week.
Tuk Tuck on St Stephen's Street in the centre does good Asian food but doesn't take bookings. It's BYO but there's a little Tesco and Sainburys nearby.

And Wake the Tiger is an excellent way to spend a couple of hours if you want things to do. They have a good cafe as well.

Thank you! I think we booked Giggling Squid one night but will need lunch/breakfast options and dinner one night. We’re just doing Fri-Sun.

Nadu is amazing. Also Marmo (Italian), pasta loco, Bosco (phenomenal pizza).

We had a Japanese vegetarian tasting menu at Six at Nico the other day which was excellent. It's not somewhere I'd heard of before so I'm glad we tried it.

Re: Where have you eaten out lately?
I had an amazing caribbeanmeal last night with friends. I had the pork belly which was huge - I couldn’t eat it all and barely touched the rice’n’peas and slaw it came with. I had a pornstar rumtini (or two) with it which were delicious.
