I just started a thriller called In My Dreams I Hold A Knife by Ashley Winstead, which follows a group of friends between present day and college. It's a nice, enjoyable page turner thus far.

Midnight Sun - Stephanie Meyer (Feel free to judge. :lol: I read The Twilight Saga some time ago, but not this.)
Hallowe'en Party - Agatha Christie (Reading it before the new film comes out.)

I've read it - I thought it was very readable but a bit overhyped and didn't quite hit the spot for me - would be interested to see what you think!

I've just finished I'm Sorry You Feel That Way by Rebecca Wait and really, really enjoyed it. I've not read anything else by her before, but a quick search says I should :))

It's about a dysfunctional family and mental health and was excellent - similar but not similar to Sorrow & Bliss.

I just read this and didn’t enjoy it as much as her other books. Though I couldn’t get into Sorrow and Bliss either so maybe this particular one wasn’t for me.

I also read my new book club one - The Other Hand. It was strange and not very good IMO but definitely worthy of a discussion.

I’m most of the way through Cat Lady by Dawn O’Porter. Something about her writing annoys me though.

The others all said they liked it, but seemed to talk themselves out of it as we discussed it. :)) It's a non-fiction book next month (The Salt Path) which will make a change.

ETA - I've just looked up the following month's book, which is Big Magic by Elizabeth Gilbert. Wikipedia describes it as a self-help book and it sounds bloody awful, so hopefully I'm too busy in May!

I also read a Wales-set crime thriller (The Last Party), which was ok, and the very enjoyable Unsettled Ground. I may look up Claire Fuller's previous work. @Bats - did you ever ready any others as I can see you enjoyed this one too?

I have now reached my target of 26 books for 2023, so have doubled it and will see how it goes!

I enjoyed the salt path.

I’ve read a load of chick lit which was enjoyable but instantly forgotten :)), then Lessons in Chemistry by Bonnie Garmus which got a lot better in the second half and I loved by the end, and The Blackmailer by Isabel Colgate which was the opposite - started well then I lost interest.

Lessons in Chemistry is my original book club's July book so that's good to know Squirrel! April's is Rabbit Hole by Mark Billingham, which I'm looking forward to as I haven't read any of his for a while.

May is Eleanor Oliphant so I'm not too fussed to miss that month's meeting as I don't think it would be the same experience a second time, and it's too long since I first read it to remember exactly what I thought. And June is Queenie, which I think went down well on TMT.

Yes, I enjoyed Queenie.

I've just finished really good, actually by Monica Heisey and overall I really enjoyed it - it was genuinely well written, sharp and funny about a young woman going through the year after her divorce.

I loved Queenie. And I want to read Lessons in Chemistry, so I shall add that to the list.

I adored Home Fires last week, followed by Three Hours which was tense but excellent. I'm now on Concrete Rose which is easy and feels sort of pointless but is still very readable.

I've just started the Guest List (Lucy Foley) for a new book club, and by coincidence had picked up The Hunting Party (same author) at a garden centre last week. Oh, and I read a rather sordid book about Paula Yates after watching the documentary. Have I already said that? :granny: It was grimly fascinating, but a bit grubby.
