Musical cards!!! Do they still exist? That’s given me a proper wave of nostalgia

They do and the cornier the better for my mom.

To be fair to her, the returned gifts were never because she was being difficult. I've inspired my entire family in decluttering so now she won't keep anything she won't use and she gave them back to me so I'd get my money back. I just kept them because I like them. :))

For Mother's Day this year (in May here) I will likely give her flowers, nice chocolates and a bottle of Pinot Grigio.

Due to my mum's galloping dementia I really struggle now with gifts. She loves a gift card but I notice they go unspent. I normally do like Five and do flowers and food, chocs (she doesn't drink)

IWLTS is it you frivolously buying all these expensive, ultimately unwanted toys for your child, or is it generous relatives/friends and are you annoyed about constantly having to deal with the fall out?

An old work colleague lives nearby and has one child under 3. Every month or so another extravagant purchase (mostly ride-on battery operated vehicles, like diggers or motorbikes) gets listed on the local selling page as “no longer wanted” or “changed his mind” ( :lol: ). I’m rudely fascinated by who is making these purchases and why they continue with such little success. Also I am definitely being a bit about it, as if my kids only play with knitted lentils and peg dolls (they do not).

Ugh, Sally, like anyone else needs to hear that. I get fully enraged on public transport if people carry on phone calls on loudspeaker. I mean I say nothing but inside I'm seething.

In lockdown it used to piss me off that my neighbour conducted his work meeting while sunbathing. I heard all about John Lewis staffing issues including names of individuals as they all bitched loudly in April 2020. I could easily work loudly in the garden too but I'm considerate of neighbours and GDPR.
