How long have shots been open to vulnerable members of the population? I think we had that for four weeks, then anyone could book.

R is refusing to get hers. I'm secretly hoping she changes her mind, but I can't force her.

Yes, that does make sense.

Right, I have booked us in up the road for Saturday. :)) Oddly, Mr R just got a text saying he was eligible for a free flu vaccine, which I don't understand and it's too late anyway. :george:
Does he not get it as he's over 50?

I got offered the flu vaccine as I'm over 50, but when I booked it online, it was very clear I wouldn't get the covid one as I didn't meet the criteria. When I went for the flu one though, the nurse asked if i wanted the covid one too, while doing a very dramatic nodding routine

I figure they had spares and I think they can only be used on the day so would be getting binned otherwise.

They should be available to buy like you do with flu but l realise not everyone can afford that.

Even that holds no logic, because everyone who wants will get one eventually. In the meantime they might get sick enough to require treatment, which will cost more.

That requires common sense though Little nMy! One thing this government doesn't have (see Esther McVey.)

It’s so interesting the differences between countries. The only people who aren’t recommended to get boosted here are the under 18s. Vaccinations are free and available in pharmacies and GPs. They also made flu vaccinations free for everyone this year, including children (and they will continue to be) to encourage uptake. They were normally around the $20 mark.

I've booked my flu jab at Tesco on Tuesday and my COVID jab the following Saturday at the big vaccination centre. I won't be having one in each arm like I did last time.

Done! That was my first Pfizer. The vaccinator just confirmed what our reason was (she did us together) and I said "It's my Mum" and that was enough.

It was very quiet in there. A couple of elderlies, plus one absolutely furious child in the booth next to us.

Just been with C and I got questioned. Just because I live with C who has been sent an appointment wasn't enough. Mentioned my 90 year old mum and got jabbed quick as a flash :))

Pfizer again which we've had each time.

Okay, I've had my last COVID jab.

Saturday morning I had a Pfizer booster and all was well until this morning when I had exactly the same thing happen to me as after the Moderna booster. Uncontrollable shivering and a heart rate of 150. Headache and dizziness. I went back to bed at 11am and have just surfaced for tea and toast. Honestly, I felt awful.
My heart rate is down to 101 but I'm not doing this again next year. Bah!

I've booked a jab for next week, on the basis of M having lungs that re prone to pneumonia at the drop of a hat. If that's not enough I will mention that we are going to visit his 85 year old father for two weeks over Christmas and he is very vulnerable.* We'll see if they give me the jab. I'm not going to bother with a flu jab as I'm in week 4 of The Worst Cold Ever so I think I probably missed the boat on that one.

*disclaimer - he's actually fit as a fiddle and lives in Australia so no burden to the NHS if he gets Covid, but we'll skip over that bit. :))

I've been meaning to get my flu and covid jags for weeks but haven't had a chance as I was literally the only PA at work thanks to long term sickness/annual leave/jury duty. Guess who went home sick yesterday and tested positive for covid last night? I am absolutely fucking raging.

Thankfully it's super mild other than extreme muscle pain, shivers and a sore throat, but completely preventable if not for the fact I've been holding the department together single handedly for the last five weeks with barely any help. I'm meant to be at a gig tomorrow and playing a gig on Friday and I'm so pissed off.

I'm not anti vaccine but I wish I didn't get these extreme reactions to the COVID jabs.
I'm still in bed, heart rate still up and I'm now being sick.

I was fine with my first two jags which I think were Pfizer, but got my third at the same time as my flu last year, possibly Astra Zenica, and felt like I'd been hit by a bus for a couple of days.

I did the first time and they sent me to A&E. They did a lot of heart tests but it all looked normal. The following day my heart rate came down so this time I haven't called the doctor ( not that I'd be able to speak to him anyway..) I was rather hoping it would be the same as last time.
