Quick oat milk question
Can I use this to make a roux for cheese sauce please? I’m guessing yes as it doesn’t appear to be sweetened but recipe suggestions are only for sweet things.
Thanks!

Agreed.
You don't tend generally buy oat milk in sweetened/unsweetened versions, that seems to only be for soya milk.
I'd say oat milk doesn't always thicken as well as other plant based milk but it will suffice if it's all you have!

Thanks Wendy, I had some almond milk that specifically said unsweetened so I didn't know if they all had sweet and not sweet versions.
Interesting, I will see how it fares. The unsweetened almond milk made a good cheese sauce.

Almond, soya and coconut milks all come in sweetened or unsweetened versions. I don’t think I’ve ever bought oat but I would have assumed it was the same. Every day’s a school day!

Well I’ve obviously missed a few developments in the plant based milk market, so maybe oat also does!

I don't drink milk because I have never really liked it but I did try some oat milk a little while back and it was quite nice.
Now there is a bit of information that nobody either asked for, or needed to know.

We get ours from the milkman so I don’t really peruse shelves any more.

I'm trying them all. None of them are nice in tea to me but I'll happily have them in porridge (well almond, oat and soya so far) and if I can cook savoury with them then that's great. The cheese sauce is delicious and thickened up no problem.

If it isn't thickening up shove in some cornflour.

Re: Quick oat milk question
Do you mean things like vanilla flavour oatmilk? Is that the kind of thing that you mean by sweet?
Because the one I tried was well nice.
