Re: Reading Heart Liberals
I keep a list of what I've read and the number of books but I don't have a target. I read around 45 last year but I doubt I'll match that. I had 6 weeks off work last year so that's probably why I got to that number.

I always have a book on the go but this year has been quite up and down in terms of reading "pace" as it were. I'm always impressed at how quickly Duo reads, it feels like her eyes must be burning a hole in the pages. :)

It's mainly audio books
I listen to them while I work. There's only maybe 20 on my list that are physical books.
I also listen to books when I run as music spikes my heart rate too much

Re: Reading Heart Liberals
I've read about 45 I think. Unsure of the actual amount as I lost my library app when I changed my phone.
After some very dry reading years, when I was highjacked by social media and streaming on my phone, books have returned to being my absolute solace and joy.

Ahhh, audio books while you work! That's impressive too, TBF, I can't concentrate on anything else when I'm working, it's so annoying.

Would it not give your translations a bit of extra interest if every so often there was a murder? ;)
I can't do audiobooks at all, I find them impossible to focus on.
I like to have a very unambitious target to try and stop myself just pointlessly scrolling as when I make myself do it, reading is a much better de-stress and much nicer experience. I'm on 43 out of 40 which I adjusted up a few times, think I only started with ten or twelve.

:)) It would certainly spice some of these boring texts up.
Audiobooks put me to sleep, as do podcasts. It's the whole act of being read to - sends me right back to childhood.

I can’t do audiobooks either. I completely zone out and hardly hear any of it.

Re: Reading Heart Liberals
It took me a while to get used to it.
I had a massive reading drought when I left Uni and didn't really read anything for around a decade so I'm trying to make up for lost time. :spin:

I also immediately fall asleep with audio books.
I was going to say something else but it's gone.

I also can’t do audiobooks. My brain just won’t retain things that are spoken at me :))
I don’t keep track of what I’ve read or have a target. I do want to spend more time reading though & less time mindlessly scrolling.

I highly recommend young adult stuff for easing yourself back into the reading habit, I find you can get straight into it and it requires much less of an attention span, and they're usually shorter.
I give up on anything nowadays where I read more than a couple of pages and am not sure what's going on.

Oh yes, I read the first Harry Potter as it was free on Amazon Prime. It was so nice to read it again

The DI Banks was one was poor. It’s the last one and was just so dull.
I started the second of the Harold Fry series last night but picked it up again after waking and read it through to the end. I think I preferred it to its companion.

I finished The Bee Sting today, I didn't really like it much and it was overly long. It was shortlisted for the Booker Prize, and it was well written but in that way where its a bit too clever if that makes sense?
I'm going to reread the Hunger Games books, I bought the first one the other day. I gave my original ones to my sister in law about 10 years so I doubt I'm getting them back!

Re: Reading Heart Liberals
I count rereads. :)) I'm basically just recording what I have read, because I mostly like looking back through the year and actually remembering. I have no memory whatsoever and would forget if I didn't note them on Goodreads. :)) I keep meaning to try audiobooks, I quite like the idea of lying there listening, especially after a long day of screens.
I am reading the fisrt Skelfs and whilst it is occasionally veering into the daft, I am enjoying it.

Re: Reading Heart Liberals
I tried this week as I recently downloaded Clubland but I end up missing loads. I can't write emails and listen to somebody talking at the same time. :))
