I have just reached my book target for the year but it was only 23 books  I should be able to add one or two more before the year is out.

I have to be in a specific mood and doing certain tasks to even listen to music while i work so audio books would be a no no!

In that case I will count rereads which should get me my 52 I reckon.
I'm reading The Trouble with Sheep and Goats at the moment. It is quite good.

I quite enjoyed The Bee Sting, but I can see why people wouldn't (and I did have a few issues with it!).

I've just finished In Ascension by Martin McInnes which was - odd. Another Sci Fi and actually the initial premise and first third were really good and I was totally engrossed, then it got a bit longwinded and boring and far fetched (ok, it was sci fi, so that shouldn't have been too much of a surprise).

I love our annual conversation about whether we record what we've read or not and how many books we've read :)). I like a record (I use a spreadsheet) as I forget what I've read otherwise and it's a useful aide memoire. I've read the most I've read in a long while this year - 66 (I had a target of 52). I include re-reads and also books I read to the children, but only if they are new to me and a book I would pick up myself.

I listen to loads of audiobooks / podcasts whilst doing housework/walking the dog etc. I also can't get to sleep at night without reading, usually on my kindle, but I'm currently reading a paperback , Murder on the Christmas Express by Alexandra Benedict, which is really easy reading and enjoyable.

I can't really do podcasts or audio books when working. I like them when I'm doing housework or walking/driving somewhere but if I need to concentrate on something else, I can't listen to them.

I can't either, Sal. Mr P can though - I honestly don't understand how - I can't concentrate on words in my ear and words on a screen/ page at the same time!

I usually listen to podcasts when I'm walking/ travelling or doing housework. And audiobooks occasionally on long car journeys (although those are usually family friendly!).

Yes, this is what throws me! I like to have the radio on when I'm working at home, and sometimes in the office, I'll listen to music (through headphones) when doing a repetitive task like stats stuff.

Right with my rereads added I am on 46. Still unlikely I will manage 52 but you never know.

I also enjoy this. :)) I have finished the Skelfs and have no idea what to read next. When work calms down I might have a flick through this thread and select some Christmas reading. I might also try some other Stella Gibbons that aren't Cold Comfort Farm, they sound like good chill reading.

I tried this week as I recently downloaded Clubland but I end up missing loads. I can't write emails and listen to somebody talking at the same time. :))
Welcome to my world. :))

I'm racing through Tomorrow, and Tomorrow, and Tomorrow and am really enjoying it.

The ending of this made me really angry. I loved most of it but would like to say to authors: FINISH YOUR DAMN BOOKS YOURSELF! It is not my job to work out what might have happened.

When you mentioned that above I was trying to remember why I didn't rate it that much. I've remembered now. :))

I’ve finally finished the Cazalets! I think I hated them all by the end.

I’ve finished City of Girls, which was excellent. I’m now re-reading the 2nd Harry Potter book :))

I read My Grandmother Sends Her Regards and Apologises, which was my least favourite Fredrick Backman. Then The Night of the Sleepover, which was an ok thriller. I might read the sequel at some point.

I’m now reading French Braid by Anne Tyler, who isn’t an author I’ve tried before.

Anne Tyler is brilliant. Although don't read l loads at once as they are very of a kind.

Yes, I'm enjoying it so far. And that's good to know, thanks Ken.

Going back to the target/tracking conversation, getting myself a Kindle at the beginning of the year has been a game changer in terms of reading more.#notnewstoeveryoneelse

I had the app on my phone but it was very easy to get distracted. The only downside is I have some physical books still on my to-read pile, including one that P got me for Christmas last year because it was on my wish list.
