Crafting Plans and Projects

Incorporating hobbies, computer games, Verm's Interesting Links and anything else you can think of excluding football and other spectator sports because these belong in the Sport section, but allowing sports you play yourself with your own body as that counts as a pastime.

Well done on that top, Wiggle! I love the shape of those culottes even though my shape prohibits me from wearing them but I admire them on other people.

Good work wiggle! And the culottes look like a good next challenge.

I’ve had one of those weekends clearing a load of little jobs and nothing particularly exciting. I finished a fully lined hoodie that has been on my WIP pile for well over a year, just waiting for me to start the zip stage.

I also took up a skirt for Elvis after I asked why she never wears it after she asked me to make it (too long apparently), repaired a jumper, put the poppers on my bodysuit and made Sproglette some leggings in an XXS adults pattern to see how it fits.

In the craft shop, Elvis chose buttons for the quilted effect cushion (cartoon ducks?) and also asked me to make her a black hat, for which she has purchased cream pom-poms to attach. I found a striped and lacy tank top knitting pattern that should use up a stash of cotton DK I have, so I’ve added that to the project list.

I completed this project, my very first dress from start to finish on my own. The length is great and will be worn in the summer. My only issue is that it's a bit to boxy and want to work out how to take it in a bit to add shape. It was made from a bolt end, so not very expensive. I will make it again but with a softer knit fabric.

Mum has made 36 of these (hideous) patches and crocheted round them in purple. The plan was for me to crochet them together with a join-as-you-go method but the purple has run out and I think it was a charity shop purchase. What colour shall I use to join them please?

I'd use any of the colours in the variegated yarn. Probably not the lilac but the dusky pink shade might work.

I think the pink could work nicely

I did the bulk of this little bolero last year but finally put a button on so I can send it back with the recipient’s dad this weekend!

That's so cute, Wendy!

This was my first set up in ages at a craft fair. I had no way to hang my crystal suncatchers so ended up have to pile up loads of boxes and put baskets on top (with bricks in!) and hanging wire between them. It looked terrible and I was suprised I actually sold things.

A made me this for the one I’ve got tomorrow. It all slots together and he’s put hooks inside the boxes for me to use to display more bits. I can’t wait to see it in action tomorrow.

I will stain it at some point but tomorrow it will ivy wrapped around it.

That looks ace - how did you get on with it?

I cut this out for Sproglette last year but never got round to sewing it up. I checked with her (as it no longer seems a style/colourway she’d go for) but she said she’s still interested.

I need to check the fitting when she’s home tomorrow so it’s not quite finished. I need to buy some elastic too (it’s temporarily using trimmed wider elastic, hence some odd bunching!).

I keep meaning to make myself some sort of jumpsuit. That's ace for a young one.

I've just hammered the buttons onto an upcycle project that might sound a bit macabre. I brought a few items of my mum's clothing home with me before Christmas, intending to make a couple of memory bears for me and my sister. In the end, I didn't use a pair of coral-coloured soft canvas trousers that I'd made for mum in 2019. There was ... umm ... quite a lot of fabric in them :)) and I still had some scraps of the original fabric left over in my sewing room. So, I repurposed the fabric to make this shacket. I didn't have quite enough, so I altered the pattern to allow for more pattern pieces and used some left-over Rose & Hubble poplin to fill in the missing bits. I quite like that the faded, reused fabric contrasts a bit with the unused left-over bits.

Overthehill, I don't think it's macabre at all, think it's a lovely way to repurpose the fabric. It's really a great piece

That’s a great shacket OTH.

I’ve been busy organising and planning stuff. The girls have chosen some bits using fabric from my stash, including this top and skirt that I finished for Sproglette.

I finished this summer sweater a little while ago but she’s only just started wearing it.
