I love Sky Brown, and in fact all of the skateboarders. It was such a laid back, happy event. I'm thinking that gymnastics would be improved if they started doing best of two or three rather than one fall off the beam and that's your medal gone.

Another knackering day even though I only went to the evening athletics session :weewee: but still racked up >20k steps.

I’ve never been to a pro athletics meet and missed out on the 2012 track sessions, so I was mainly just pleased to be there. I wasn’t quite in the nosebleeds, but close  It was a great atmosphere and once things get going there’s two or three events at the same time so I was rubbernecking the whole time not knowing where to look!

The women’s hammer final was excellent. It was great to see the Nigerian-American pull it out of the bag after having to change allegiances after Tokyo (where she didn’t get to compete for Nigeria) - what a long time to wait to prove yourself?! But I was rooting for the Canadian and she nailed it. So good.

I feel I was a bit of a curse for the Brits, having so many chances in semis and finals and only coming away with one medal. The 1500m was fantastic and I am both pleased and sad for Kerr. Flipping American. Whoever said that Josh and the Norwegian destroyed themselves was right - in fact Ingebritsen handed the medal to the American by failing to protect the inside lane trying to push Josh wider when he was already spent! Git.

200m was gutting for both girls to be hundredths from a medal. Gutting. Not sure our long jumper was ever going to beat the Greek guy, but he did well. A shame about both of the 400m hurdles non-qualifiers too, but our steeplechase runner did a great job coming up the field to finish 5th or 6th I think, having looked WAY out of it. We had 5 medal ceremonies and got to see Duplantis and Keely get their golds, and then Josh get his silver. Lots of getting up and down for anthems.

Next time I really need to remember to source a flag :))

I’m glad you had an amazing time- seeing Keely get her medal ceremony must have been awesome.

Amazing!

For the rugby we were right in the bit in the sun at the front. Which also meant that the subs benches blocked our view of the medal ceremony.

Brilliant photo Epp! We got athletics tickets for London 2012 which were really near the track, but at one end so really didn’t see very much other than the 10k so I actually think nosebleeds are better!

Fantastic  There was a beautiful "photo" for a second on the footage of the steeplechase final where the front runners were all equally spaced and the crowd behind in the far distance.

Oh no! I was SO glad not to be in that sunny oval on the other side, even though the sun set during the session. I nearly expired from the exposure at the canoeing!

I don’t have tickets for anything today (I tried til the last second but luck was against me as I kept getting beaten to skateboarding tickets) so I am going to wander about the south side of Paris, which I haven’t done before, and see if I can get into a fanzone somewhere for a bit.

Ah, Matthew Hudson-Smith couldn't quite hang on for the gold in the 400m. I really thought he had it!

I'm nervous for Katarina Johnson-Thompson. I hope tomorrow goes well for her.
