IWLTS - which part of calendar which shows I'm busy do you not understand? Stop putting meetings in when it clearly shows I have time blocked out.

IWLTS: shut up about your new partner, surely you realise I don't want to hear it*

*I'm aware that I'm not particularly rational about these things right now, which is why it's an IWLTS.

Ugh. Thats a bit tone deaf, Sal. Just keep changing the subject where possible and hopefully she’ll get the hint.

Honestly, I just asked how she was, as you do when someone comes into a room and she said "ooh I'm meeting Bob's family tonight so I'm a bit nervous" :verm:

I get that some folk who have dealt with a break up want to hear about new, better partners (I don't), but maybe try to suss out if that is the case before enthusing about yours.

The words stream, street, studio do not have an h in them. :teacher:
This is to just about everyone on tv ads, continuity, voice over, radio. It grinds my gears so badly.

I can imagine that's how Sean Connery might have said them.

IWLTS Stop making it so bloody difficult to apply for a job. There's no reason I should have to set up an account for every bloody company I apply to. Nor should questions like bloody "pronouns" be essential - all the "diversity" questions should be voluntary or you'll get a "prefer not to say" to every single one.

Agreed about the insertion of ‘sh’, having heard ‘shtudents’ for decades. See also ‘modual’ instead of ‘module’ 😡

IWLTS to my lovely son - were you raised by actual wolves? We’ve been to stay for the weekend, and they had an enormous tv in the sitting room on a sports channel 24/7. Football, rugby then darts!! I promise I didn’t comment (their house, their rules, I guess), but what is the point of bringing up offspring to have manners if they jettison them at the first opportunity? :mog:

See also eating takeaway food from the cartons :swoon:.

I am half joking here, as I realise how up myself this sounds, but honestly - if you are plugging away thinking that your insistence on basic standards will set up your children to be civilised adults, just give up and go feral. It will save you all a lot of grief.

I blame the parents.

It's like background noise to them I guess. But yes, unpleasant!

Urgh. I hate the tv being on 24/7. That would really upset me. I can just about cope with it on from 6 in the evening, husband would watch it all day if he could.

I think it's really rude to have the TV on when guests visit (unless you have all settled down to watch something)

I find there something massively depressing about sport endlessly being on the TV, because that reminds me of my dad.

Yes, if you’ve decided to watch a film or something pre agreed then fair enough. But otherwise it should be off when anyone visits.

I know!

I can assure you all that J was not brought up to think this behaviour is acceptable. I’ve never been a ‘my house, my rules’ type, and I suppose this is an illustration of why. Some things are just Rong!

Bruno (the puppy)* is simply adorable though, which made up for it. He is from a show line, so beautiful, and is a lovely mix of curious and gentle. Loki is going to have to compete for title of ‘best ever grandpuppy’.

Kids eh . Mine can be questionable at times despite anything I tried to instill in them.

Ikr. I do wonder why we bother with the whole parenting thing. Still, they can be lovely when they want to be.

But, then again, pronouns seem to me to have more relevance than courtesy titles. I get equally irritated by being forced to specify, 'Ms or Mrs', when my marital status has absolutely nothing to do with anything. I've occasionally picked 'Prof', 'Dr', or 'Lady' from the list, just for devilment. :mog: No. Body. Cares! I prefer to be just plain old Jane Smith, or whatever. (Apologies to any actual Jane Smiths here.)

That's very annoying. We have a new starter in a related team and an email went to introduce them, adding that Mary's pronouns are they/them. My eyes rolled so far back in my head I lost my sight for a good ten seconds.

I hate the whole miss/mrs/mr/mx/ms thing as well. First name- last name suits me fine.
