IWLTS oh what a surprise. You may as well have been off sick for the last year but you wouldn't have been able to rake it in for yourself then, would you?
Soon to be ex manager of theatre has gone off 'sick' for the rest of his notice period. He simply stopped responding to emails or doing any work since Christmas and having sent him a list of things which were outstanding I have just had an email from the board saying he's now ill and won't work the rest of his notice. The sooner he's gone the better, but it hurts how much he has taken this place for a ride.

we are a shoes-off household. the streets of London are filthy, with dog poo everywhere, and I don't want anybody tramping that in. we have hardwood floors, so they're not hard to clean, but the cats object to having wet pawpads, so S doesn't do it much

I know that often you- especially women-need shoes to make an outfit work
we never ask friends to remove their shoes, as that would be rude. most do it automatically though

Pretty much everyone says "should I take my shoes off" when they arrive anyway, especially in this weather.

I mean I’ve got a cat who goes outdoors and he is pure filth so me taking my shoes off makes no odds but it’s ingrained.

I have a paw washer by the front door for Rosco which I dip his paws in. My friend came on Saturday and knocked it over so I had to wash the front door rug. :ella: I can't imagine a paw washer would go down well with a cat! Oh the roll eyes emoji doesn't work

Iwlts Why did you choose term time only if you're going to struggle in the holidays?

To a school parent who moved her two year old to a term time only pre school and is now ranting that there's no holiday clubs that take her as she's too young. Just leave her in nursery like the rest of us!

We are shoes off, slippers/sliders on. There isn’t any carpet downstairs )apart from the living room that we don’t really use). There’s more of a cow or sheep poo risk here though

We have drawers built under the stairs for everyone to put shoes away but inevitably there are a millionty pairs of small boy football boots flung around the front door or back door.

Lily, interesting re the public right of way, as we have one through our field but it’s always been the councils responsibility to maintain the entry/exit - they replaced the stiles with kissing gates a couple of years ago when presumably someone had moaned about it being slippy/rotten. Maybe it depends on the council.

I've always been shoes off, but even more so now that I live with a Swede who is HORRIFIED at shoes beyond the front door. It did take a bit of getting used to having to take shoes off at the massage place/gym etc though!

That is interesting. To be honest I would have thought it the council's duty too. Especially given it opens right onto an increasingly busy road - any safety inspector would blame the council not the landowner for a broken gate. I'm glad we have got it resolved but it's ridiculous it has taken so long to achieve it.

This exactly why we are shoes off Smunder :). When grandchildren come for the annual holiday there is a sea of trainers directly in front of the front door!

Yes, kids parties are a sea of (huge! most of Liv's 10 year old friends have bigger feet than me :emme: ) shoes by the door! They all take them off automatically.

I can't take shoes off, ever. Unless I am in bed or in the shower of course.
