Oh, I thought it was purely a Yank thing. Why are so many people saying it? It's objectively Bad and Wrong. I don't get it at all.

Even if it were my actual MD saying that, I would absolutely tell them to fuck off.

overthehill, I've noticed this a lot in podcasts, and I assumed that it might be that they'd left their Invisalign moulds in?

You're supposed to leave your Invisalign in though, aren't you? And why would that make you choose different words? The 'speak to' thing is definitely a horrible Americanism that is seeping into everything!

I think that's about a post on page 2, not the 'speak to' thing. I looked that one up ages ago and I think it's been around a while but it definitely gets said more at this employer.

I’ve never heard of it before.. but I’m no longer in any situation where I’m likely to.

IWLTS Oh dear mate. I'm not sure emailing all the parents of a Y9 science class to ask us to speak to them about talking and silliness is your finest moment. Can you not handle them yourself?

IWLTS - learn to use teams properly and send one full message instead of the constant pinging after each sentence.

I suppose this is marginally better than a Hello and then nothing else until I reply back. I'm tempted to press enter after every word.

My brother splits up his thoughts on WhatsApp which is also quite annoying.

C does it via text. It doesn’t always bother me, depending on how quickly he gets to the point.

Actually I’d rather that than the 10 minute voice messages I sometimes get. I always play them at 1.5 speed though.

I love voice notes with my friend but not for anyone else. I do have someone who splits all their whatsapps out and it makes me want to hurl my phone across the room. GET TO THE POINT! THIS CAN ALL BE ONE MESSAGE, NOT 9!

Me too. I'll often receive five or six WhatsApp messages from her, each one line.

I have just sent my work colleagues eight WhatsApp messages in a row, all about a lemon, so I guess you all hate me :mog:

In my defence, MissA is severely dyslexic and hates a big chunk of text, so I am used to breaking everything down into small sound bites. I might just check how my colleague feels about it as I don’t want to accidentally antagonise her!

I try not to do large amounts of text in one go. I do get the thing about "Hello?" and it annoys me as well but I do feel that it's not assuming that you have time/are going to respond to any questions. Possibly "Hello, do you have a moment for me to ask you something?"
