IWLTS- I’m glad that announcement had the 31st of March on it because one day later and I would’ve assumed it was an early AFD.

Maybe it's a blacksmith's house.

IWLTS: yeah, of course, that's fine, it's not like she has a fucking HOLE IN HER HEAD, is it? Oh hang on...

A has a fistula in her ear, which most likely needs surgery to fix. We've waited six weeks to see the surgeon, our appointment was next Wednesday. The surgeon's office rang up this evening to cancel, left a voice mail, and had already apparently fucked off home for the weekend by the time I got the message five minutes later.
Now i don't know when we'll get to see the bloody surgeon.
This happened 2 hours ago and I'm still fucking raging. Bastards.

Fuck sake, Zoomer, I'd be raging too.

IWLTS: stop saying he's from Greeenland, he's not, he's from Newfoundland. They're very different places.

IWLTS: I think insulting my house before even arriving isn't going to set the right tone.

That's shocking, Zoomer; I hope you get a new appointment soon.

Five, how rude of them!

To be fair, part of the problem with the in-laws is that I'm an introvert and they're total extroverts. So mostly I need to just deal with it.

Thanks all. I managed to get new appointments for the end of April, bargaining them down from their proposed date in June by repeating the "a HOLE IN HER HEAD" line. :ella:

Five, even for extroverts, inviting someone you don't know to someone else's house is crossing the line. I hope Mr Five can rein them in.

I'm glad you managed to get new appointments, Zoomer.

Mine is also hospital related – IWLTS if you're going to send me an appointment, at least tell me which department it is with! I had a text yesterday to say that I have an appointment at our local (very large) hospital and the date and time; no info about who it's with or where (I'm on the waiting list for two very separate things) and no contact info.

IWLTS: if the reason you're asking the same people each year is that they're the "helpful" ones, then folk won't carry on being helpful. Don't you see what a stupid way this to allocate tasks?

Exactly! Every year, someone in our audit team sends me a task. I checked with other managers on our group chat if they have had the request, a couple said yes, most said no, and had no idea what I was talking about. I replied to the person who emailed me originally

Hi, could I check if this is sent to all people managers?

No, we try to choose a selection across the business so not all people managers are asked to do this.

Thanks, I was asked to do it last year, and in previous years. Could different PMs be asked to do it each year please?

I an told which PMs to send it to, and they are normally the ones who are helpful in replying as this is required for our records.

Could you pass on my feedback to the person who chooses the PMs then? There are a lot of requests sent to PMs and I'm not sure asking the same people each time is the best way to approach this, it might actually lead people to be less helpful. Would it not be fairer to ask different people each year.

I will pass that on.*

Yes, I hope this gets you firmly on the “bad” (no additional thankless tasks) list!
