I want one of those wine cellars :weewee: unlikely as they cost a gazillion pounds.

I already have a well, although some idiot filled it with rubble :bite:

Our neighbours have a full well in their sitting room  I can't remember for sure, but I think it just has a grid across the top. The sitting room is a converted barn, so the well wouldn't have been in the house originally.

Is it cold because of the open well, PG?

I was wondering that too. The ground is quite a stable and even temperature isn't it? but then, y'know, its a fuck off big hole in the ground, surely its cold?

I don't know, I was thinking that myself (I've only visited them twice, in the summer for an hour or so). It's an absolutely huge room, but they have underfloor heating plus a large open fire. I don't think I've ever seen such a large room in a house - they have a sideboard thing, then a dining table that must seat 12, then some empty space, then a seating area with 3 sofas!

In theory it should be stable temp. and not cold, but I'd have thought the damp would make it seem cooler.

The room sounds like a bitch to heat anyway, maybe they just don't notice the added effect of a wormhole to another dimension in their living room.

Twee felt sick, but luckily found a nice little cottage to upchuck in.

This really tickled me. It's like an afterthought by the builders - oh, why did we leave a driveway there? We can EASILY fit another house in!

Much as I can understand it in prime locations, this is in Yate :))

That does look a bit ridiculous. It'll be for planning I reckon, they don't like just plain old rows of terraced houses all looking the same, so they do stuff like that instead.

Squish house!

Maybe I don't appreciate my art but Ahh. A nice relaxing bath.....apart from the slightly terrifying crying lady in the picture.

The woman who owns it is an interesting character by all accounts, offering a cut of the sale price of a different property to a developer if he managed to get planning permission, then declaring the deal was off the day after he got it. Silly man never got anything in writing (although eventually won a court case against her).

The striped house is one of those stories where no one comes out looking good. I don't mind the way it looks though, it's quite quaint.

I agree Liv, I don't mind it and everyone involved sounds a bit daft. Especially:
It’s very fluorescent and very garish. Without sounding very pretentious it isn’t very Kensington. It’s more Camden or something like that.
She likes the word "very" it seems.
